Hero Sivaji has been out of the limelight from quite some time now. Even though he has been doing films continuously, none of them have clicked at the box office. He is now back with the horror comedy Boochamma Boochadu, which has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Karthik(Sivaji) and Shravani(Kainaaz) are a happily married IT couple. On the occasion of his wife’s birthday, Karthik buys Shravani a farm house in the outskirts of the city. Excited with her gift, Shravni plans a week long holiday in their new and beautiful home.

As soon as they land there, things take a u-turn, and weird things start happening between the couple. Rest of the story is as to how the couple comes out from the evil home, and what actually is behind all these scary incidents.

Plus Points:-

Major highlight of the film is Kainaaz Motiwala. She looks beautiful, and is quite good in the emotional and horror scenes. Production values look quite good, and the film has been shot quite decently.

As expected, Sivaji gives a honest performance. He ably supports the film, and shares a decent chemistry with the heroine. His performance in the climax is particularly good.

It is only the second half where the film catches pace, as the actual story is revealed here. The fun episode featuring Dhanraj, Venu and Chammak Chandra is hilarious. Some emotional and horror scenes designed between the lead pair, have been executed nicely.

Minus Points:-

First half an hour of the film is quite tedious. Nothing happens during this period, and the story just wanders here and there. Even though the concept is good, it has been explored way too much in the film.

There is absolutely no horror in the film, and so called comedy doses also do not bring in much laughs. The movie just keeps on dragging, and the same horror episodes come again and again.

Right from the start of the film, too many characters keep coming in which do not have any importance. Star comedians like Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore and Posani have been wasted in their roles.

Technical Aspects:-

Camerawork of the film is quite good, and the way the entire set up has been showcased also looks neat. Concept of the film is interesting, but the way its has been stretched through out is below par.

Music of the film is passable, and so is the editing. Screenplay is also below average as some scenes during the first half, could have been easily chopped off. As said earlier, director Yadhu’s script is ok, but he adds unnecessary elements and disturbs the flow of the film.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Boochamma Boochadu has a novel concept, but it is the execution which completely falters. Kainaaz Motiwala’s striking performance, and a hilarious comedy episode in the second half, makes this film worth only a shot, if you have nothing else to do this weekend.
