Small film Geeta Sakshigaa, featuring Aadarsh and Chitra Sukla in the lead roles, has hit the screens on the auspicious day of Ugadi. Let’s see how the film is.

Story :

Arjun (Aadarsh) is a DJ in a popular pub in Hyderabad. He leads a happy life with his family and falls for Amoolya (Chitra Sukla). All of a sudden, his life turns upside down as the police arrest him for allegedly raping and killing an innocent girl. After 5 years, ACP Roopesh (Roopesh Shetty) reopens the case to find out the truth behind the heinous crime. Did Arjun really commit the crime, or was he framed by someone else? What did the ACP discover during the investigation? Who is the real culprit? The movie has all the answers.

Plus Points :

Though this is his debut film, Aadarsh performs really well and delivers his best. He also showcases exceptional dancing and fighting skills.

Chitra Sukla is not only limited to romancing the protagonist in songs, but also gets a meaty role. She plays a major role in the movie, especially in the second half. Her performance in the courtroom scenes is praiseworthy. Geeta Sakshigaa is her best film in Telugu to date.

Another important character is Lawyer Joseph, played by Srikanth Iyengar. He has fewer but impactful scenes. His dialogue delivery and body language are impressive and thus justified his role.

Roopesh Shetty, Bharani Shankar, Anitha Chowdhary, and Sudarshan did justice to their respective roles.

Minus Points :

Written by producer Chetan Raj, the story of Geeta Sakshigaa is so routine and reminiscent of many old movies that dealt with the same point. The makers said that the film is based on some real-life incidents. However, director Anthony Mattipalli, who also wrote the screenplay, should have taken better care of the narration. Had he concentrated more on the screenplay, the movie would have been an edge-of-the-seat thriller. He missed a nice opportunity to turn this mediocre story extraordinary by writing an engaging screenplay. Also, there are many loopholes in the script.

The courtroom scenes are okay to watch, but they look pale because of the actors. The director should have cast some notable faces who fit well in the judges’ roles. If the courtroom scenes, especially in the second half, were written well, the result of the film would have been different.

The director didn’t make use of actors like Raja Ravindra and Nellore Sudarshan. Instead of running a sluggish love track, the director could have replaced them with some comedy scenes.

On the other hand, the emotional scenes didn’t work well. If Anthony Mattipalli had written some dialogues related to the problems women have been facing in their daily lives, the film would have been better emotionally.

Technical Aspects :

A better screenplay could have helped the film. Unfortunately, Anthony failed in this aspect but did his job well as a director. The cinematography by Venkatahanuma Nariseti is fine. Gopi Sundar misses no chance to elevate scenes with his background score. Regarding songs, a couple of them are good to listen to and watch as well. Editor Kishore Maddali should have chopped a few unnecessary scenes in the first half. The production values are good and one can witness that on the silver screen.

Verdict :

On the whole, Geeta Sakshigaa is just an okay film that has a mediocre plot and dull narration. Aadarsh and Chitra Sukla were impressed with their fine performances. Some of the scenes in the first half make one feel boredom. Barring those scenes, you can watch Geeta Sakshigaa this Ugadi.
