DeAr, starring Aishwarya Rajesh and GV Prakash Kumar, premiered in theaters across the twin Telugu states today after its Tamil release yesterday. Explore our review to know how the movie is.

Story:

Arun (GV Prakash Kumar) is a news reader aiming to become a prominent journalist. He marries Deepika (Aishwarya Rajesh), only to find out quickly about her sleep apnea issue, which poses a challenge for him. The ultimate outcome and Arun’s acceptance of her condition form the crux of the story. Will Arun’s understanding and acceptance of Deepika’s condition strengthen their bond, or will it test the limits of their love? Unravel the story and discover the fate of their relationship on the big screens.

Plus Points:

Aishwarya Rajesh deserves praise for accepting and portraying a challenging character with finesse.

GV Prakash delivers a satisfactory performance as a man struggling with his wife and family. Rohini Molleti also shines in her role as GV Prakash’s mother.

Minus Points:

If you expect the plot to focus solely on snoring and its impact on a couple, you’ll be surprised. While the first half centers on sleep apnea, it later shifts focus to the reunion of an elderly couple.

Unfortunately, the main plot loses momentum quickly, and the scenes addressing the issue lack depth. Emotional depth, crucial for such a storyline, is noticeably absent.

The chemistry between the leads and their character arcs could have been developed more effectively. Additionally, the songs fail to leave a lasting impression.

The screenplay is poorly written. Supporting characters portrayed by Kaali Venkat, Thalaivasal Vijay, and Nandhini are underdeveloped, missing opportunities for better exploration.

Technical Aspects:

Writer and director Anand Ravichandran falls short in crafting a compelling narrative and screenplay for DeAr. The film’s shortcomings in these aspects are evident.

GV Prakash Kumar’s music and score are just average, failing to elevate the emotional moments. The editing by Rukesh could have been tighter, and the cinematography by Jagadeesh Sundarmurthy is passable. Production values are decent.

Verdict:

On the whole, DeAr delivers a moderate romantic comedy drama, showcasing okay performances from GV Prakash Kumar, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Rohini. Despite their efforts, the film falters due to its weak narrative, lackluster execution, and failure to evoke genuine emotional depth. It’s prudent to seek out alternative entertainment choices for a better entertainment experience this weekend.
