Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari have teamed up for the movie ‘London Paris New York’ and this romantic comedy has been directed by Arun Menon. Shrishti Arya and Goldie Behl are the producers for this movie which hit the screens today. Let us see how the film is.

Story :

Nikhil Chora ( Ali Zafar ) and Lalita Krishnan (Aditi Rao Hydari) bump into each other at London Heathrow. Nikhil is a spoilt young brat of a Mumbai film producer while Lalita Krishnan is a middle class girl of mixed heritage ( Maharashtrian Brahmin and Tamil Brahmin). On the spur of the moment, they decide to explore London as Lalita has some time left to catch her flight to New York. In typical Bollywood style, they fall for each other during the tour of London. They decide to meet up in New York without exchanging any mails and calls in the meantime. As expected, Nikhil doesn’t make it to the city.

The scene then shifts to Paris where a radically different Lalita is seen. She infact looks like Lolita now. Nikhil Chopra is an aspiring filmmaker. After some explanations and resistance, romance is rekindled again, only to be broken due to a slight ‘misunderstanding’. After a few years, the lead pair meet up in New York and this time, they are more mature and wiser. But Lalita is engaged to someone else and Nikhil is heartbroken. But they decide to spend one last night together and they roam around the city. Will this change their feelings for each other and rekindle the romance? That remains to be seen on screen.

Plus Points :

Ali Zafar is decent as Nikhil Chopra. He lends a certain vulnerability to his character and there is ease in his performance. Aditi Rao Hydari delivers a good performance and she looks beautiful throughout the film.

There are some truly remarkable moments in the film and some scenes have been captured brilliantly. The scene where Ali Zafar is forced to adjust his trousers sent the theater into peals of laughter. The characters have spunk and the execution of this very thin story-line is good in places. Songs have been shot beautifully and the visuals are good to watch.

Minus Points :

This is a very very familiar concept and you basically know what to expect in the next scene. There are some major loopholes in the screenplay, especially in the second half and the director extensively stereotypes the characters at times. There are highly cliched sequences and as the movie approaches the climax, you start squirming in your seat at the needless drama that unfolds.

The narration of the movie is extremely slow in a few instances.

Technical Aspects :

Sameer Arya’s cinematography is outstanding and is a major asset to the movie. The visuals are good and the cities of London, Paris and New York are very aesthetically shot. Dialogues are funny in places. Editing is ok.

Verdict :

London Paris New York is a movie that is let down by its extremely predictable story-line, cliched moments and slow narration. The film does have its brilliant moments, but they are few and far between. A tighter screenplay and better climax would have really elevated the movie. This movies ends up as just another routine Romcom.
