The film Pizza is a cult hit in Tamil Nadu and it was received very well in AP also. A new film with the title ‘Villa (Pizza 2)’ is releasing today across Andhra Pradesh. Deepan has directed this movie and Good Cinema Group has bagged the Telugu rights of the film. Let us see how the film is.

Story :

Jebin (Ashok Selvan) is a budding writer in search of a publisher for his maiden novel. He does not have a very cordial relationship with his father (Nasser). After Nasser passes away, Jebin finds himself in financial difficulties and is on the verge of losing all his property.

Unexpectedly, Jebin discovers that he is the owner of a posh Villa in Bheemili. He goes to Bheemili to take charge of the property and some good things happen as soon as he moves in. Jebin gives up all plans of selling the villa and decides to live there, much to the delight of his girlfriend Aarthi (Sanchita Shetty).

However, Jebin comes across a barricaded room in the villa that contains strange paintings. After that, evil things start happening around the house. People associated with the house start getting affected.

What is in those painting? What is causing the evil things to happen? That is the story of ‘Villa (Pizza 2)’.

Plus Points :

Ashok Selvan has given a restrained and balanced performance as the struggling writer Jebin. Sanchita Shetty is ok.

Nasser is good in a brief but pivotal role.

The story of this film is quite novel. Not many films have dealt with the concept of negative energy in such a realistic way. The film has some thrilling moments that will send a shiver down the spines of viewers.

The interval block has been shot well. For a film of this budget, the VFX work is pretty solid. Camera angles and sound have been used to good effect.

Minus Points :

The moment you call a film ‘Pizza 2’ , comparisons with ‘Pizza’ are inevitable. But this film does not have the same level of horror quotient as ‘Pizza’.

Despite a short runtime, there are a few boring moments in the film, especially in the first half. A lot of time is wasted in setting up the plot.

Except for Nasser, there are no known faces in the film. Both casual entertainment seekers as well as people who love extreme horror will be a little disappointed.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography of the film is very good. Sound effects have been designed well and the background music is effective. Edition is ok.

Deepan makes a good impression as a director. He has handled the story pretty well, but he should have taken better care of the first half.

Verdict :

‘Villa (Pizza 2 ) ‘ is a decent supernatural thriller. It has nothing in common with ‘Pizza’, so do not go in expecting similar levels of horror or entertainment.
