Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth movie in the Thor franchise hit the theaters today. Let’s check how the film is.

Story:

Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth), the God of Thunder is living a peaceful life. He learns that Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) is killing all the Gods and his next target is Thor’s kingdom New Asgard. He meets King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) and his ex-girlfriend Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), the Mighty Thor in Asgard. Gorr attacks the place and kidnaps kids. Where did he take them? Who is Gorr? Why did he kill the Gods? How did Jane become the Mighty Thor? Did Thor win the war against Gorr? All these questions will be answered in the main film.

Plus Points:

The story of Thor: Love and Thunder is pretty simple and neat but the narration makes it even more enjoyable. Besides, the movie has so many comedy scenes just like in the prequel. The movie has a perfect pack of emotions like comedy, suffering, and especially love. Moreover, the visuals are stunning, especially in the action sequences.

Chris Hemsworth as Thor nails the show. The surprising pack is Natalie Portman who transforms into the Mighty Thor. The director gives a clear explanation of her transformation with a nice backstory. She delivers her best.

Christian Bale plays Gorr, who is empowered by Necrosword, a mystical sword. Well known as ‘Batman’, the DC superhero plays a villain in MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) for the first time. His performance as the murderer of Gods is praiseworthy. Russell Crowe as Zeus, the God of Thunder, Korg (Taika Waititi), and Thor’s Goats also played key roles in making the movie a good one.

Minus Points:

Audiences have huge expectations of this film as the prequel Thor: Ragnarok is completely a laugh riot. Unlike in the prequel, the comedy in Thor: Love and Thunder is a bit limited. There was a huge scope to generate more fun between Thor and his mates in the Olympian, the kingdom of Zeus but the makers failed to do so.

The director should have shown more about the team Guardians of the Galaxy because one can expect their presence in the battle between Thor and Gorr.

Technical Aspects:

This is the second film of Taika Waititi after directing a marvelous movie, Thor: Ragnarok. The film is pretty good and watchable but he failed to make it a great film as the prequel but his narration is good.

The cinematography by Barry Idoine is awesome. Music by Michael Giacchino and Nami Melumad is decent. There is no need to mention the production values because it’s a Marvel movie. Editing is fine. Thanks to the editing team for making it a neat film with a decent runtime.

Verdict:

On the whole, Thor: Love and Thunder lives up to the hype created. You can enjoy the finest performances of Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, and Natalie Portman. But, the film is a bit disappointing to some Marvel stans because of the lack of more comedy. If you like superheroes and their magical powers, watch the film and enjoy a bunch of surprises in the climax and even after the end credits.
